Disability Special Interest Group Annual report 2018

We met a total of 6 times in 2018. Our first annual conference took place on the 10/10/18 in the Irish Human rights and Equality commissions office in Dublin. With the help of Charlotte Burke the CPD officer this day proved to be a huge success with great work from our conference subgroup led by Grace O’Flynn.

Our members contributed to the following committees/subgroups:-

  • Conference Committee
  • Education sub group
  • Membership committee
  • Workers Advisory Group

The entire DSIG attended the SCI conference and assisted with a number of duties over the 2 days.

The DSIG also had representatives on the following:

  • Medication Management steering group with the HSE (12 meetings or 2 hours duration)
  • Assessment Working Group of medication management group (6 full day meetings)
  • Advisory Group for the development of the draft National Standards for Adult Safeguarding HIQA (2 3 hour meetings, one full day)
  • Focus group for above standards (day conference)
  • Participated in meeting with Rosarii Manion
  • Attended cervical cancer Awareness Launch
  • Attended meeting with UCC researchers

Our budget of 500 euro was utilised for food, tea coffee, transport, stamps, parking and a hotel stay for conference. Breakdown sent to Noel Howard and receipts are filed and documented. Suggest a ledger for years going forward. We submitted feedback to a number of public consultations as a group.

Thank you for your continued support this year.
