Job Title:
· Housing Support Officer (HSO)- Emergency Services Permanent 33.5hr
· Housing Support Officer (HSO)- Prevention/Women & Families 2 yr Fixed Term 37hr
· Housing Support Officer (HSO)- Community Based Housing (City) Permanent 37hr
· Housing Support Officer (HSO)- Men’s Residential Services Specific Purpose 37hr
Job Location: Galway City
Responsibilities include:
· Act as a key worker, assess clients’ needs, and develop/review support plans. Create robust support plans focused on housing stability and personal development.
· Advocate for clients in dealings with other agencies and support them in claiming benefits
· Advocating for housing security and alternative accommodation options.
· Provide day-to-day support, involve residents in service activities, and offer follow-up support. Support clients to live, work, and participate in society based on their preferences.
· Maintain contact with external agencies for the benefit of residents.
· Identify and secure move-on options for clients, and support them in transitioning
· Work with other teams to ensure clients receive sufficient support when moving on.
· Ensure residents comply with their occupancy agreements, manage accommodation charges, and anticipate move-on to minimize voids.
· Ensure essential domestic duties are carried out, maintain properties and gardens in good condition
· Maintain recording systems, adhere to policies and procedures, and prepare necessary reports
· Attend and participate in training courses, and identify areas for future training
· Act as a First Aid responder, carry out duties with reasonable care, and ensure safety procedures are followed
· Represent the organization positively at meetings and events, maintain confidentiality, and adhere to policies
· Perform additional duties as requested by management, which are consistent with the job and responsibilities
Criteria:
· Essential:
- Degree in social care or a related discipline and have already or commit to registering with CORU as a Social Care Worker before end of the grand parenting registration period. A minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a similar role Have an understanding of the physical, mental health and substance misuse needs affecting our clients & a knowledge of the specialist services which can address these needs
- Have an understanding of the importance of confidentiality in relation to work
- 2 years’ experience working in a similar role within a social care setting
- Have a valid and full clean driver’s licence
· Desirable:
- Knowledge and proficient experience using Microsoft Office 365
- Experience securing accommodation in the private rental market.
- Possess good supervision skills
- Evidence of being trauma informed in your approach to work
- Be self-motivated, positive, patient, non-judgemental, resourceful, and able to motivate and inspire others
Salary:
HSE Social Care Worker 02/02/2022 scale €34,985 – €50,419
