The second volume of the Journal of Social Care was published online on the 4th May 2019. This volume contains both articles reporting on original research and reflections on practice from three staff members of Smyly Trust Services. Research articles are written by Lhara Mullins of NUIG about the views and experiences of older people in relation to homecare provision; Elizabeth Molloy on emotional labour and burnout among social care workers in domestic violence refuges; Leigh-Ann Sweeney of IT Sligo with Jane Sixsmith and Michal Molcho of NUIG about the experiences of women working in the sex industry in Ireland and Niall Ivory about social care workers views on supporting young people with a hearing difficulty with mental health challenges.
Practice reflections are contributed by Des Mooney, on gratitude in residential services for young people; Helan Buggle on how she was attracted to and stays in residential care services for young people in Smyly Trust and Tony Moore providing a history of Smyly Trust Services.
