Job Details: We are currently seeking to recruit a Social Care Leader. This post provide an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team and evolving service committed to quality childcare practices. Derralossary House is a service providing residential care to separated children seeking international protection. We cater for four young people between the ages of 13 to 17 years. Derralossary House recognises that separated young people seeking international protection come with varied and complex needs. We aim to ensure that the service provided understands the cross-cultural differences and language barriers that occur between the young people and the carers. Derralossary House recognises that common to all these young people is the need for a welcoming, safe, secure, warm and nurturing environment.
Responsibilities include – Providing the highest standard of care in a supporting and caring environment where all the needs of the young people are met, and they are at the centre of this process.
Criteria:
- National Diploma in Childcare, awarded by Quality & Qualifications Ireland (QQI), formerly HETAC/DIT
- National Diploma in Applied Social Care Studies, awarded by QQI (formerly HETAC)/DIT
- Diploma in Social Care, awarded by QQI (formerly HETAC)/DIT
- Diploma in Applied Social Studies/Social Care, awarded by DIT
- BA (Ordinary Degree) in Social Care Practice (Level 7 on the QQI framework)
- Open Training College National Diploma in Applied Social Studies (Disability)
- An equivalent qualification, as recognised by relevant regulatory bodies
All applicants must be Coru registered or have their application submitted.
Desirable:
- Experience in the area of residential care is an advantage.
- Experience working in partnership with vulnerable children.
- Essential competencies: communication skills, commitment to providing the highest level of service, openness to change, professionalism, respect for others.
- A full driving license is desirable.
