BECOME A BOARD MEMBER WITH CORU
A message from CORU – Darragh Connolly Stakeholder Manager
“I am reaching out from the Stakeholder Management team at CORU, Ireland’s multi-professional health and social care regulator. Our role is to protect the public by promoting high standards of professional conduct, education, training and competence through statutory registration of health and social care professionals. CORU currently regulates approximately 28,000 health and social care professionals.
CORU is currently looking to broaden representation on our Council, Registration Boards, and Committees. We are actively seeking applications for lay positions (and public interest members) on the registration boards.
More specifically we have a number of roles on our registration board seeking representatives from;
- the management of the public health sector, the social care sector;
- and representatives of the management of a voluntary or private sector organisation concerned with health or social care.
Members within Social Care Ireland may have an interest in these roles.
We are seeking applications, in particular, from those who have experience in any of the below areas;
- Corporate Governance
- Finance
- Risk management
- Irish healthcare system knowledge
- Evidence of experience working for the public interest or demonstrating public accountability
A full range of the essential and desirable criteria are available on the State Boards booklet.
Be part of the team – join and contribute to CORU’s role in regulating Health and Social Care Professionals.
This role requires members to:
- There are approximately 10 meetings of Council/registration boards per year
- The majority of meetings are held online
- Take note of the time commitment contained within the booklet
We believe this is a valuable opportunity for members of the public to contribute to the regulation of several professions in Ireland.
Can I ask that you circulate this campaign to those who may be interested in contributing to CORU’s work.
Please consider applying by Thursday 10th October 2024 using the State Boards application form available here. Please note that the deadline may be extended.
This is a voluntary role involving governance and decision making related to the regulation of professions. More details about being a Council or a Board member can be found here.
