Irish Journal of Applied Social Studies

The Irish Journal of Applied Social Studies (IJASS) was founded in 1998 and is published by Social Care Ireland. IJASS is a member of the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), the comprehensive and well-renowned open-access directory. IJASS meets the range of DOAJ selection criteria based on scholarly research coverage and peer-review quality control.

  • IJASS aims to publish papers from across the social sciences and related applied areas, including social work, social policy, community development, education, criminology, youth work, psychology, sociology, family studies, social care, early education and related areas.
  • Manuscripts may be pre-screened to ensure they fit the aims and scope of the Journal. It is editorial policy that manuscripts are sent to two anonymous peer reviewers. Our aim is to make a decision on each manuscript within 3 months.
  • Proposals for special theme issues are also welcome. While the primary area of focus is applied social studies in Ireland, submissions from other regions are also welcome, particularly those that provide a comparative perspective.
