Paula Byrne – Chair of Social Care Ireland’s Workers Advisory Group

Paula has over 35 years’ experience in social care work and in addition to an honours degree in social care, Paula has completed a Masters in therapeutic childcare, as well as a diploma in addiction studies. 

Paula has worked extensively with children and families across early intervention, residential care, community and aftercare settings. Paula has also provided extensive support to parents through initiatives such as the Incredible Years Parent Programme (IYP) and Paula is an accredited Parent Group Leader, a Peer Coach and a Mentor in Training in IYP.

Throughout her career Paula has been a passionate advocate for both service users and social care workers and she is currently Chair of Social Care Irelands ‘Workers Advisory Group’ is a past President of the ‘Irish Association of Social Care Workers’ (IASCW). 

She was a member of the  executive of Social Care Ireland and is a member of the SCI Board since its inception in 2016 and is in her second term of the SCI Board and is the chair of the newly formed Implementation group for Strategic Planning of SCI.
