Children’s Residential Services Awareness Week

Welcome to Children’s Residential Services Awareness Week 2024! From September 23rd to 27th, we’re celebrating the exceptional work done by Social Care Workers across Ireland, day in and day out, across statutoryvoluntary and private care providers. This week is all about shining a light on the dedicated professionals who help shape brighter futures for children and young people in residential care.
What is Children’s Residential Services Awareness Week?

Children’s Residential Services play a vital role in the lives of vulnerable children and young people, providing them with a safe, nurturing environment where they can heal, grow, and thrive. Social Care Workers are at the heart of this work, making a real difference every day.

Children’s Residential Services Awareness Week is your chance to:

  • Learn about the impactful work Social Care Workers do.
  • Explore career opportunities in this rewarding field.
  • Celebrate the dedication and achievements of those who work tirelessly to support children in care.

Throughout the week,  a series of webinars focused on the critical role of Social Care Workers in the lives of children in care, and opportunities for professional and personal development for Social Care Workers.
Who is behind Children’s Residential Services Awareness Week?

The week is being organised by the Children’s Residential Services Employers Forum, a collaboration of key organisations across statutory, private and voluntary care. Members of the Forum include Tusla, Ashdale Care Ireland, Pathways Ireland, Don Bosco Care, Peter McVerry Trust, Solis MMC Children Services, Gateway Residential Care and Smyly Trust Services.

We’re united by a common goal: to support and enhance the workforce within Children’s Residential Services, ensuring every child in residential care or in need of a care placement receives the support they need.
