As part of the membership process, Social Care Association of Ireland (SCI) collects and processes personal data relating to the different membership packages. Social Care Association of Ireland (SCI) is committed to being transparent about how it collects and uses that data and to meeting its Data
Protection obligations.
What information does Social Care Association of Ireland (SCI) collect?
Social Care Association of Ireland (SCI) collects a range of information about you. This includes:
- your name, address and contact details, including email address and telephone number.
- details of your qualifications if availing of the 1 year post qualified membership package.
Social Care Association of Ireland (SCI) collects this information online when members subscribe for the different membership packages, which are;
- Annual subscription for full membership for social care workers
- Monthly subscription for full membership for social care workers
- 1 Year post qualified annual subscription for full membership for social care workers
- Annual subscription for student social care workers
- Annual subscription for associate members.
Why does Social Care Association of Ireland (SCI) process personal data?
Social Care Association of Ireland (SCI) needs to process data for our different membership packages. This is to comply with the relevant Legislation which Social Care Association of Ireland (SCI) is required to adhere to.
Social Care Association of Ireland (SCI) will not use your data for any purpose other than for sending information out to members for which you have applied.
Who has access to data?
Your information will be shared internally for the purposes of generating membership data. This includes members of the Board of Directors, CPD Coordinator and any IT support and maintenance.
Social Care Association of Ireland (SCI) will not share your data with third parties or transfer your data outside the European Economic Area, unless it is requested by you in writing to the Chairperson of Social Care Association of Ireland (SCI) specifically requesting the information required.
How does Social Care Association of Ireland (SCI) protect data?
Social Care Association of Ireland (SCI) takes the security of your data seriously. It has internal policies and controls in place to ensure that your data is not lost, accidentally destroyed, misused or disclosed, and is not accessed except by our employees in the proper performance of their duties. All computers and all email correspondence are appropriately encrypted. All data stored electronically is securely backed-up on a weekly basis.
For how long does Social Care Association of Ireland (SCI) keep data?
The retention periods for which your data will be held will be for one month after you unsubscribe.
Your rights
As a data subject, you have a number of rights. You can:
- access and obtain a copy of your data on request;
- require Social Care Association of Ireland (SCI) to change incorrect or incomplete data;
- require Social Care Association of Ireland (SCI) to delete or stop processing your data, for example where the data is no longer necessary for the purposes of processing;
- object to the processing of your data where Social Care Association of Ireland (SCI) is relying on its legitimate interests as the legal ground for processing; and
- ask Social Care Association of Ireland (SCI) to stop processing data for a period if data is inaccurate or there is a dispute about whether or not your interests override Social Care Association of Ireland (SCI)’ legitimate grounds for processing data.
If you would like to exercise any of these rights, please contact the Data Protection Officer of Social Care Association of Ireland (SCI). You can make a subject access request by completing Social Care Association of Ireland’s (SCI) form for making a Subject Access Request (SAR) and this will be
responded to within 30 days of the request or three months in the case of a complex request. Should an applicant wish to withdraw consent for the processing of their personal data, they need to write specifically to the Data Protection Officer of Social Care Association of Ireland (SCI), outlining
the reasons for this request.
An individual’s data protection rights may be lawfully restricted under Article 23 and this would be explained as part of the response process to the SAR.
If you believe that Social Care Association of Ireland (SCI) has not complied with your Data Protection rights, you can complain to the Data Protection Commissioner.
In the interest of transparency, should the Data Protection Officer (who is an employee of Social Care Ireland) wish to make a Subject Access Request, this is made to the Chairperson of Social Care Ireland.
What if you do not provide personal data?
You are under no statutory or contractual obligation to provide data to Social Care Association of Ireland (SCI) if you do not want to receive any correspondence from us.
