Relief Social Care Workers

residential, aftercare and outreach support programmes.

young person and their family to actively participate in all planning, activities, decision-making,
interventions and review processes.
The individual needs, rights and wishes of each child or young person are at the fulcrum of all of our

holistic development of the young person and is affected in a way that respects their dignity and
individuality as persons.

experiences. The approach to the work is therapeutic in the support we offer the child or young
person and the challenges we place before them. It is aimed at bringing about the healing of
negative experiences and trauma. The work is carried out with the child or young person in a spirit of
participation, inclusion and consultation.
The Management and staff of Don Bosco Care, strive to work in close partnership with the young
people, their families, Social Workers and other professionals in order to achieve the best possible
outcomes for the young people.
Essential Statutory Qualifications & Experience:
Eligible applicants will be those who on the closing date for the competition:
1. Possess the National Diploma in Childcare awarded by Quality & Qualifications
Ireland(QQI) (Dearbhu Cáiliochta agus Cáiliochtai Éireann) (formerly HETAC)/DIT or
2. Possess the National Diploma in Applied Social Care Studies awarded by Quality &
Qualifications Ireland, (QQI) (Dearbhu Cáiliochta agus Cáiliochtai Éireann)/DIT or
3. Possess the Diploma in Social Care awarded by awarded by Quality & Qualifications
Ireland, (QQI) (Dearbhu Cáiliochta agus Cáiliochtai Éireann) (formerly HETAC)//DIT or
4. Possess the Diploma in Applied Social Studies/Social Care from DIT or
5. Possess a BA (Ord) in Social Care Practice (Level 7 on the QQI framework)
6. Possess Open Training College National Diploma in Applied Social Studies (Disability). or
7. Possess an equivalent qualification
Desirable
● Experience in working with vulnerable children and young people
● Experience in working within a residential and team environment
● Full clean driving licence
