Salary Details HSE Social Care Worker 01/02/2022 salary scale €33,966 – €48,950
Job Purpose To recruit and support participants to integrate and participate fully and meaningfully in their community and wider society by developing socially valued roles; through the development of successful pathways into activities, training, education, and employment aligning with the individual’s preferences, assets, and personal development goals while meeting the project’s outcomes and targets.

 

WorkAbility: Inclusive Pathways to Employment Programme – Pobal

Main duties & Responsibilities §  To work in line with the workability project’s goals and outcomes, that supports and facilitates participants to develop socially valued roles, responding to their training, education, employment, and personal development needs.

§  To assertively collaborate in development and execution of a robust support plan ensuring that support plan outcomes are focused on the achievement of socially valued roles.

§  To develop strategic links, collaborations and robust pathways with relevant external stakeholders and agencies (e.g. employers, training programmes, educational institutions), focusing on various levels of participation & sustainable social role development.

§  Maintain high levels of collaboration and communication with external stakeholders, team leaders, support workers to encourage participation, and facilitate feedback and information sharing, focused on best possible participation and outcomes.

§  Source and apply for funding, grants or other opportunities to enhance and sustain the provision of the overall service activities and development.

§  To maintain a systematic and timely approach with recording and evidencing work and outcomes, ensuring that all communication, reporting and administrative policies and procedures are followed.

§  Participate proactively in training, networking, personal development, and the supervision process.

§  To provide training and mentoring to team members, volunteers and placement students as required.

§  To carry out all duties with reasonable care following all Health & Safety procedures and policies and to act as First Aid Responder as required.

§  Maintain confidentiality on all matters relating to staff, volunteers, participants, clients, past and present and general Galway Simon Community Business.

§  Be aware of and adhere to all Galway Simon Community current Policies and Procedures.

§  All other duties as may be from time to time requested by management, and which are consistent with your job and responsibilities.

Person specification:

 

Essential Requirements

§  A Social Care/Community Development Degree (min. Level 7) or equivalent relevant qualification

§  We welcome applicants with qualifications in any of the following areas Social Care, Community Development, Addiction Studies, Sociology, Human Rights, Family Support, Coaching, Facilitation, Youth Work or related fields.

§  Have a minimum of 3 years’ experience working in a similar or relevant role.

§  Demonstrate the ability to work with a diverse range of stakeholders, including community groups, social enterprises, statutory agencies, local agencies and funders.

§  Being flexible with working hours including evenings and weekends, as needed to facilitate participant and programme outcomes.

§  Have a valid and full clean driver’s licence; access to own vehicle for work-related purposes and be able to obtain insurance to indemnify Galway Simon and carry passengers in relation to work-related duties.

§  Have a positive, proactive, solution-focused outlook and approach to all work.

§  Proven ability to manage people, develop, mentor and train participants, staff and volunteers.

§  Demonstrable capacity to work on own initiative and as part of a team effectively.

§  Demonstrate a passion, energy, and positive attitude towards the work of Galway Simon Community

§  Have working knowledge of using a trauma informed approach.

§  Excellent organisation skills, advocacy skills, interpersonal and communication skills.

§  Be self-motivated, positive and able to motivate and inspire others.

§  Demonstrate a high level of administrative skills, and use of modern technology.

§  Be patient, non-judgemental and resourceful.

 

Highly Desirable

§  Experience of working with vulnerable people with limited work experience.

§  Experience of the impact and working with psychological trauma

§  Knowledge of the business sector and business networks.
