The Impact of Unexpected Change and Transition in Social Care Work

In March 2020 COVID 19 began to have a dramatic impact on the way in which social care workers carried out their daily work. This new and different approach to work has continued to shape how relationships are built and how care is undertaken across Ireland. While it seems that we have gotten used to working in these new ways, the ongoing nature of the ways in which we connect and practice is for some very challenging.  This is not related to their skill or capacity but rather the very complex contexts in which they are working, and against a backdrop of ongoing anxiety at societal level.
