Job Title: Restorative Justice Case Worker

Reports to: Service Manager

Location: 23 Marshalsea Court, Merchant’s Quay , Dublin 8 – However, travel will be associated with this post.

Working Hours: Full -Time (35h/week) – Must be available to work between 8.00am – 18.00pm based on the needs of the Service. Working outside of these hours may be an occasional feature of this role and will be considered to be part of normal working conditions associated with the post.  

Salary: €36,500 (Point 1 – Case Worker pay scale from April 1st, 2024)

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Report to Service Manager in all aspect of the work.
    • Attend supervision meetings and case reviews.
  • Facilitation of Restorative Justice programmes
    • Work with victims of crime, offenders, families, community representatives and statutory agencies with regard to their participation in restorative programmes and interventions.
  • Case Management
    • Progress all aspects of case work as required.
    • Manage case files as per standards set out by RJS.
    • Initiate and maintain contact with all participants involved in the restorative programmes and interventions.
    • Liaise with voluntary and statutory bodies as per requirement of the cases.
  • Inter-agency working with statutory and voluntary organisations.
    • Establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with organisations, working closely with RJS.
    • Represent RJS to events.
  • Report writing.
    • Prepare and submit all relevant reports to the Court as required.
  • Assist RJS in achieving its strategic and operational goals.
    • Support the Service Manager and the Board of Directors in the review and development of the service as relevant.
    • Compile reports and statistical analysis.
    • Partake in consultation / Working group initiative.
  • Team
    • Work respectfully and collaboratively with all RJS employees, volunteers and Directors as required.

Person Specification

  • Essential
    • Ability to demonstrate a clear understanding of Restorative Justice principles.
    • Working knowledge of the Irish Criminal Justice system
    • Relevant Third Level qualification
    • Min two years of direct experience working with people affected by crime (Relevant volunteering experience will be considered).
    • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
    • Excellent IT skills.
    • Ability to work with internal and external stakeholders in a respectful, constructive, and approachable manner.
    • Ability to work as part of a team and from own initiative.
    • Positive attitude to work and responsibilities associated to the role.
    • Openness to feedback and appraisal from colleagues and management
    • Full and clean driving licence.
    • Eligible to work in Ireland.
  • Desirable
    • Recognised qualification in Restorative Justice practice, mediation and/or conflict resolution.
    • Access to own car.
